After their classic debut release "OPERATION : PLASTIC STORM", infamous Italo Disco deflagrators duo SEME DIVINO made their return with the ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK for the cult movie SHOGUN WITH A SHOTGUN, produced and distributed by movie company FUTUROMA FILMS.
n this forgotten gem of B-grade 80’s sci-fi/action, a defeated SHOGUN sees his young WIFE kidnapped by a ELITE SQUAD of DEATH ROBOTS from the FUTURE. Left for dead after the battle he fought, alone, to prevent his WIFE from being taken, THE SHOGUN seriously considers death by his own SWORD. Then, a strange LIGHT appears ahead of him, a vision of SKYSCRAPERS in RUINS, fires in the STREETS… in a moment of HOPE, he walks towards this vision and FINDS himself in 1984 America : a post-apocalyptic MESS in which humans live as RATS in the RUINS of a techno-war won by a SUPERCOMPUTER that hovers in a SPACESHIP above a destroyed MIAMI.
Upon his arrival, he is RESCUED by a gang of survivors, the MIAMI WARRIORS : homeless men, women and children led by MAXWELL POWERGROOVE, that see him as a KNIGHT sent by PROVIDENCE to avenge HUMANITY. They don’t UNDERSTAND each other’s language and motivations until the leader of the MIAMI WARRIORS hands him a SHOTGUN, and points him in the direction of the ominous SPACESHIP.
From then on, the SHOGUN WITH A SHOTGUN goes on a journey through the ruins of MIAMI, and blasts his way to his kidnapped WIFE.
Throughout the movie, we also come to understand the motivations of THE COMPUTER, the primary antagonist. After winning the WAR against humanity, THE COMPUTER has enjoyed cybernetic assurance that IT is the most POWERFUL being in the UNIVERSE, even more powerful that those who created IT in the first place. But shortly after ITS victory, IT has been plagued by visions of ITS own downfall. Maybe, IT starts thinking, just maybe, I am not ALONE in the universe.
In any case, IT has sent a team of ELITE ROBOT KILLERS to the past in order to kidnap the young WIFE of the man IT thinks will cause ITS downfall. THE COMPUTER’s plan is simple : lure the SHOGUN WITH A SHOTGUN to ITS SPACESHIP and destroy him once and for all.
Of course, in the end the SHOGUN, with the help of the homeless, fights his way to the SPACESHIP. The SPACESHIP's artificial intelligence is then transfixed by the SHOGUN’s courage, determination and TRUE LOVE, and accepts him as its only CAPTAIN. THE COMPUTER, enraged by such treachery, tries to destroy the SPACESHIP with everyone onboard. In an unexpected turn of events, the young WIFE of the SHOGUN, who has been left unsupervised by THE COMPUTER, manages to free herself and smashes THE COMPUTER to pieces. In ITS final moments, THE COMPUTER understands that the real threat to ITS supremacy wasn’t the SHOGUN WITH A SHOTGUN, but his young wife IT had kept PRISONER. It accepts it’s defeat in it’s final words in Japanese to the YOUNG WOMAN : « Life always does find a way. I am sorry for everything. » The remains of THE COMPUTER's screen go black one last time.
The SHOGUN and his WIFE are reunited, and they set out to rebuild MIAMI in the image of what 1984 America should be : a land of love and hope.
